Welcome to:
At The Corner!
My name is Rick Smith.

I was born and raised in Bay City, MI where I became an avid Detroit and Michigan State University sports fan. Growing up, I played baseball, football, wrestled and threw shot put and discus in track and field.

I graduated from Bay City Central High School, proud to be a Wolves Alumni.  I now live in St. Paul, MN where I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in history.  Currently I am enrolled in St. Mary's University of Minnesota's Graduate School Program for Education Instruction.

I enjoy hiking, camping, photography, disc golf, cycling, softball and anything that will get me into the outdoors.  I have amazing friends and family who inspire me to write short stories and poetry.  I have recently started writing sports stories and articles that you can read here at At The Corner and I am collaborating with a friend who is an artist to develop a children's book series that teaches young readers about true values.   I am drawn to the beauty of waterfalls, known in the Lakota language as Minnehaha, and my photographs generally are centered around waterfalls and nature.  I enjoy travelling and many of my travels are in search of the abundant and incredible waterfalls of the Great Lakes region.  As At The Corner grows, I hope to share these nature portraits and other photographs with you.

While I am in school, I work as a freelance writer and volunteer at a St. Paul public school.  I hope to teach high school history when I complete my studies at St. Mary's University and continue as a writer and photographer.  No matter what my future brings, it will be defined by faith, family, friends, nature, and my passion for sports. At the Corner is dedicated to the idea of sharing my passions with you.

Thank you for visiting!  I hope you enjoy this site.
